Learn the fundamentals of Lean Six Sigma

Juran’s Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt training course introduces participants to the fundamentals of improvement and the Lean Six Sigma DMAIC methodology. It teaches them how to use the most relevant improvement tools which are necessary when working on a project team.

This workshop is useful if a participant is going to be a member of a project team, if they are going to be an ad-hoc subject matter expert assisting a project team, or if they just want to learn the basic quality improvement methodology.

What is involved in the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt course?

Our online Yellow Belt course was designed by Juran certified coaches with an extensive knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools and methods.

By the end of this program participants will be able to:

  • Define what quality is
  • Define and identify what the cost of poor quality is and where it may be located in an organization
  • Explain how the Juran Trilogy applies to improvement, and how different improvement methodologies fit in
  • Select the appropriate methodology to solve a given problem
  • Become an effective team member
  • Recognize why improvement is necessary
  • Utilize basic improvement and lean tools to act as productive members on improvement teams

There is no project work required to become a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt.

This program consists of 11 hours of self-paced, online learning, including live webinars, followed by a certification exam.

At the conclusion of the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt program, there is an open note exam where participants will be tested on what they have learned throughout the course. Participants have two hours to complete the exam and must score 70% to pass.

Yellow Belt Eligibility & Requirements

Yellow Belts are members of a Lean Six Sigma team, and can come from throughout an organization. They are often subject matter experts from various functional departments that are involved in the operation or maintenance of a process under study.

There are no eligibility requirements for Juran’s LSS Yellow Belt program. It is open to anyone who has a genuine interest in learning the basic principles of Lean Six Sigma and applying them to internal improvement projects.

While Yellow Belt training is well suited to people working in the manufacturing, healthcare, or service industries, the key principles can be applied in almost every sector.

Generally, candidates can start with Yellow, Green or Black Belt training, and can discontinue training at any belt level.
